István Gyárfás founded his first guitar-bass-drums trio more than 30 years ago and it has been going strong ever since. The band's playing is characterised by a swinging pulse, rich in colours and tempo changes, combined with virtuoso solos with elements of bebop.

They are keen to arrange hits by the legendary big bands of the swing era, but they also perform jazz standards rarely heard today, as well as several original compositions. This evening, they focus on the gems of their repertoire: they evoke the musical world of Gábor Szabó, explore the heights of big band literature, play arrangements from their hugely successful album Cartoon Jazz, and the bandleader's student Árpád Grócz will introduce his own songs.
